Divine Timing and Providence – The Stories of Joseph and Esther

Why is it important to accept Jesus Christ into our hearts?

Among today’s believers, a certain pattern can often be observed—one that unfortunately leads to false conclusions.

Many expect immediate answers when they turn to God with a request. The fast-paced nature of modern society, with its instant technologies, fuels the false expectation that God will respond in the same way—quickly and without delay. However, divine timing often differs from what we imagine. And when the answer doesn’t come right away, many start to waver. Some begin to blame God, while others blame themselves, thinking that past sins are now being punished. Yet Scripture clearly teaches that God does not punish in this way. He is a loving Father who does not delight in the suffering of His children. It is Satan who comes to destroy, to accuse, and to sow doubt through lies. In contrast, God calls us to patience and trust, for His timing is always perfect.

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)

There is a purpose in waiting, and often the greatest blessing and transformation are hidden within the delay itself.

Joseph’s story is a perfect example of how God’s promises do not come to fulfillment overnight. As a young man, Joseph received dreams from God that foretold his brothers bowing before him one day. This stirred up envy, especially among his own brothers, who first plotted his death, then instead sold him as a slave to Egypt. The young Joseph was placed in a completely vulnerable position. Yet he did not rebel; he did not renounce God. In Potiphar’s house, he served diligently and faithfully, until Potiphar’s wife falsely accused him, leading to his imprisonment. Once again, unjustly treated, he seemed to fall even further away from the promise.

Yet even in prison, God was with him. Not only did Joseph help his fellow inmates, but he also interpreted the dreams of Pharaoh’s butler and baker. Still, he was forgotten for a time. Finally, when Pharaoh himself had a troubling dream no one could interpret, the butler remembered Joseph. He was brought out of prison, and by God’s grace, became second in command in Egypt the very next day.

“And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:
Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.”

Genesis 41:39–40 (KJV)

Joseph’s story clearly shows that God never forgets His promises, even if the path leads through darkness and deep valleys.

In the Book of Esther, we also witness the wonder of divine timing. Esther, a Jewish girl raised by her cousin Mordecai after the death of her parents, found herself in a unique position—she became the wife of the Persian king. She had no way of knowing that this very position would one day be used to save her people. Haman, one of the king’s top officials, hated the Jews and plotted their destruction. The decree was signed, and all hope seemed lost. But Mordecai knew where to turn—he turned to God. After Esther informed him that she and her maids would fast for three days before she dared go before the king, he urged all others to do the same.

Initially, Esther hesitated, for appearing before the king uninvited could cost her life. But Mordecai’s words gave her strength: “and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” That is the key to divine timing: God placed you where you are, not by accident. Esther drew courage and, after a three-day fast, appeared before the king. The Lord’s grace was upon her, the king received her kindly, and in the end, Haman’s plot was exposed. The people were saved, and a special celebration was established in remembrance: the feast of Purim.

“Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king’s house… and when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight… Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther?”
Esther 5:1–2 (KJV)

Throughout the entire story, there is no spectacular miracle—yet God’s hand was clearly at work behind the scenes in every moment. This is the essence of divine providence. Sometimes God moves silently and invisibly, yet with absolute certainty and purpose. And if we are willing to obey, we too will partake of His blessings.

As a closing thought, let me encourage you: maybe you feel as though your prayers have not been answered. Perhaps it seems like God is silent. But know this—He hears and He sees. His work may be unfolding right now, behind the scenes. All you need to do is not give up, not waver, but trust Him with all your heart.

“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
Psalm 37:5 (KJV)

God’s promises do not expire, and His timing is always perfect. So stand firm in faith, and you will see His glory. Amen.

Let me share 3 Scriptures that help us better understand the importance of receiving Jesus and its inevitability.

Romans 10:8 – 10

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

If you’re reading this today and you want to be with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in eternity, know that this verse shows you how to do it. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. In the following sections, I will guide you through how to confess all of this before our Father and our Lord Jesus.

Read this prayer out loud with faith in your heart, for what is written there is faithful and true.

John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. These are the words of Jesus.

You can be born again as the Bible teaches: you need to confess

your faith. After you have been born again, say this short but very important prayer

with your loved ones, relatives, friends, and all those who believe in Jesus Christ. Because to be born again, we must confess our faith. This is what the next section is about.

Prayer for Salvation.

I believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

I believe that Jesus died for my sins,

according to the teachings of the Bible.

I believe that Jesus rose from the dead,

for my justification.

Please, Jesus, be my Lord!

Please, Jesus, be my Savior!

Please, Jesus, be my Healer!

Jesus, You are my Lord.

Jesus, You are my Savior.

Jesus, You are my Healer.

I am redeemed. I am born again in Christ.

His holy blood has cleansed me from all sins.

This is the truth, for the Word of God is truth.

Thank you, dear Jesus. Amen.

For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Matthew 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
