Matthew 4:23: ’And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.’
I would like to spend a little time today and start with this Verse since many of us have this internal question, what is my service in Jesus Christ?
When answers come to our questions, we often sweep them aside, saying that I am not yet grown enough in faith. And as the Bible also wrote, the reasons we refer to can be various, from which it highlighted a few so that we understand through them, we often postpone what is really important in our lives.
Let me show you where our Heavenly Father speaks to us about this.
Luke 14:16 – 24
’16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:
17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.’
These Verses well show that our Heavenly Father was sent for us, for us who were lost, for us who lived by the wayside, or for us who lived in prosperity, but our hearts were empty. If you have accepted Jesus into your heart then this emptiness was filled by the Heavenly Father in your heart with His Spirit. And the signs by which you can recognize this are written down for us in John 14:26: ’But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.’
Today, if that inner voice calls you, do not hesitate, do not look for excuses as you could read in Luke 14, but as the great servants of our Heavenly Father did, Samuel, Moses, Isaiah saying when God called them ‘here I am Lord for you called me’
‘Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. ‘
Therefore, if you feel a strong urge to do something with which you can lead people to the Lord, whether by sharing a Bible story, your personal testimony, or anything else that advances the work of the Lord here on earth, then stand before the Lord in your faith and say here I am Father for you called me.
Stand in faith, but how do we stand according to the Bible with this faith?
The truth is, our Heavenly Father does not ask for greater faith than that of a mustard seed. With this seed, the Lord
can already work wonders as written in Luke 17:6, ‘ And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.’
That is, a mustard seed-sized faith, which is about 1-2 mm in diameter, a tiny seed, from which according to the Word, as you can read among others in Matthew 13:31-32,
’31 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:
32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.’
Now we know when the Heavenly Father sends us as sowers, then the Word that we sow into other people’s hearts can grow into such a mighty tree just as we also strive for in our hearts.
If you truly strive to proclaim the Gospel, then do not forget this Word written by the Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 4:2: ‘ Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.’
And let there be here a promise from our Heavenly Father as written in Romans 8:14: ‘ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.’
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
My service is not tied to a place, not located under a country or street name, and not hidden behind a phone number. I serve my Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, growing in Him day by day, being transformed from my old self to become like Christ.
