The Bible encourages believers in numerous places to openly profess their faith and not fear sharing it with others, even if it meets resistance. Here are some verses that support this:
Matthew 10:32-33
“32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”
This verse urges us to openly and bravely confess our faith in Jesus Christ because it impacts our eternal life.
Acts 5:29
“Then Peter and the [other] apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.”
Here, the apostles face prohibitions from their superiors yet decide to follow God’s command over that of men.
2 Timothy 4:2
“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.”
This verse calls us to proclaim God’s word under all circumstances, regardless of how popular or accepted it is.
Matthew 5:14-16
“14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
This encourages us not to hide our faith but to live in a way that serves as an example to others.
Romans 1:16
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
Apostle Paul emphasizes that because of the gospel’s power, we have no reason to be ashamed of our faith. Moreover, through the love of our Heavenly Father, we have received such a mighty name above all others—the one true Lord Jesus Christ—so that through Him we may be grafted into the vine that is righteous before our Heavenly Father.
Matthew 24:9-14
“9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
This passage warns that there will be times when confessing the faith leads to persecution but still encourages endurance and the preaching of the gospel.
Summary:
The Bible clearly teaches that believers should not fear openly confessing their faith and should not allow human decrees or political correctness to suppress their obedience to God. It is wrong for leaders to restrict the free expression of faith, as this contradicts God’s commandments and Christian teachings.
Finally, how does the media come into this? In our modern world, many of us proclaim the Word on social media, and often even such messages are censored when we share pure biblical verses. I have frequently been told that my posts violate community guidelines. It should be noted that I only share in groups where this is relevant—that is, groups with biblical content.
This verse works strongly within me, which we can read in Mark 16:15
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
